Richard E. Gordon

Richard E. “Dick” Gordon, 68, of Dover, Ohio died Wednesday, December 8, 2004 in Union Hospital at Dover.

Dick was a longtime printer having owned and operated Valley Printing and Graphics at Dover. He previously managed Newhouse Printing Company at Dover and for many years worked with his family in the Gordon Printing Company in Strasburg.

Born February 12, 1936 in Dover, he was the son of the late Smiley Gordon and Gertrude Frantz Gordon Seibert.

Dick was a member of the Canton Christian Fellowship (CCF) in Canton and was actively involved in Refuge Ministries. He was also formerly active in the Dover Jaycees. He was a 1954 graduate of Dover High School and served in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Quillen Gordon who died May 27, 1992.

He is survived by his daughter, Candie (Tom) Gomola of Margate, Florida; three granddaughters, Tiffani (Tony) Gerber of Strasburg, Trisha Troyer of Strasburg, and Tara (Matt) Page of Goshen; one great grandson, Mitchell Owen Troyer and another great grandson is expected in January; one brother, Ronald (Kathy) Gordon of Strasburg; three sisters, Linda Gordon and Sally (Garry) DeVault both of Strasburg, and Judy (Ernest) Brooker of Cincinnati and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Gay Elaine Gordon.

A public graveside service will be held Saturday, December 11, 2004 at 11 am in the Dover Burial Park with Pastor Randy Pipes officiating. A reception will follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover on Friday from 5-8 pm.
