Richard E. “Dick” Haugh, 67, of Dover, died Wednesday, June 27, 2007, in his home after battling Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS, or Lou Gehrig�(TM)s Disease).
Born, February 12, 1940, in Carrollton, he was the son of the late Donald and Leona Umpleby Haugh. Dick graduated from Carrollton High School in 1958, and went on to graduate from Andrew Barber School in Toledo in 1959. He was employed as a barber for over forty years, thirty five of which were at the Walters Barber Shop in Carrollton. Dick retired in 2006. He loved the outdoors, and being and sharing with people. Dick was an active member of NewPointe Community Church in Dover.
Survivors include his wife Rosemary Stalder Haugh, whom he married April 24, 1981; two daughters, Tammy Green of Rutherford, NJ, and Shannon McMillen of Venice, CA; two sons, Tom (wife, Debbie) Haugh of Carrollton, and Darby McMillen of Long Beach, CA; five grandchildren, Barry and Jonathan Green, Travis and Tyler Haugh, and Taylor McMillen; a sister, Patricia (husband, Larry) Pontuti of Carrollton; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by two nephews, Rick and Ron Brumbaugh, and by a son-in-law, Barry Linder.
A funeral service will be held Monday, July 2, at 11 a.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, with Pastor Dwight Mason officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Church Cemetery, Carrollton. Following the committal, there will be a meal in the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church.
