Richard J. Figuly, 85, of Dover died Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Union Hospital.
Born May 8, 1931 in Cleveland, Ohio he was a son of the late John and Mary Blasko Figuly. He graduated in 1949 from West Technical High School in Cleveland, earned his Bachelor's degree in 1953 from Case Western Reserve University and proudly served his country with the United States Army. Following his service, he worked as a Metallurgist at Shenango until its closing in 1989. Richard finally retired from Quaker City Castings in Salem in 1999. He was a member of the American Society of Metals and the American Foundrymen Society, where he served as an officer for both organizations, and was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Richard was the first Cub Scout Leader for St. Joe's. He was an avid reader and golfer and loved watching the Browns, Indians and his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes.
A wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather, Richard will be sadly missed by his wife of 56 years, Patricia Sadowski Figuly whom he married on February 11, 1961; children, Laura Figuly of Dover, Rick (Vicky) Figuly of Columbus, Sandra Figuly of Dover, Randy Figuly of New York City; grandchildren, Sidney and Ricky Figuly.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by an infant son, Douglas Figuly.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, March 30 at 10:30 am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Dover. Friends can call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover on Wednesday from 5-7 pm with Christian Wake Services starting at 6:45.
