Richard L. “Dick” Powell, 62, of Dover, died Tuesday, July 6, 2004, in Union Hospital following an apparent heart attack.
Born March 3, 1942 in Wheeling, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Clyde and Janet Wright Powell. Dick�(TM)s family moved to Flushing, Ohio, where Dick grew up and graduated high school. He was a paralegal, and had been employed by the Cardida Corporation, Cambridge. He also worked as a salesman much of his life.
Dick was a member of Crooked Run United Methodist Church, New Philadelphia. He also volunteered teaching G.E.D. courses, and enjoyed building model airplanes.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Garrett Powell, whom he married December 10, 1977, in Wheeling; a son, Robert “Robbie” Powell; and a brother, Thomas (Sue) Powell.
A service celebrating Dick�(TM)s life will be held Friday, July 9, at 11 a.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover, with Pastor George Reichman officiating. Burial will be in Crooked Run Methodist Cemetery. There will be a reception in the church following the committal.
