Richard L. “Dick” Smallcombe, 69, of New Philadelphia and formerly of California died Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born December 30, 1937 in Adena, Ohio he was a son of the late George F. Dewalt and Audrey Brady DeWalt. He was also preceded in death by an infant brother, James Smallcombe and a grandson, Matthew Houston.
He was a heavy equipment operator for 25 years and most recently worked at Marlowe�(TM)s Pharmacy.
Dick was a member of Crossroads Christian Church in Corona, California and his favorite pastimes were taking drives in the country, reading his Bible and cheering for the Cleveland Indians and Ohio State Buckeyes.
He is survived by his wife, Susanna McClure Smallcombe with whom he would have celebrated 20 years of marriage on August 21, 2007. He is also survived by six children, Kyle James Smallcombe of New Philadelphia, Craig (Jean) Smallcombe of Brightwood, Anita Henry of Gnadenhutten, Richard A. (Mary Kay) Smallcombe of Bluffton, Andrea Smallcombe of Uhrichsville and Tyler C. McClure of LaQuinta, California; brother, Thomas (Esther) Smallcomb of Jewett; three sisters, Rita Forepaugh of Stow, Carolyn (Audi) Curry of Uhrichsville and Nancy (Ray) Berry of Mineral City; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and his former wife, Weltha (Max) Nedle of New Philadelphia.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2007 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at New Philadelphia with Tim Hatfield officiating. Cremation will follow the funeral ceremony. Friends can call at the funeral home on Friday from 6-8 pm.
