Richard Neil Miller

Richard Neil “Dick” Miller, 86, of Dover passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2018 at Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital following a sudden illness.

Dick was born on February 10, 1932 in Canton. He was the son of the late Neil B. and Eleanor (Fox) Miller. He grew up in Massillon, Ohio where he graduated with the class of 1950 from Washington High School. He later graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Engineering in 1958. He met the love of his life, Jane Brazier, at a dinner party in January of 1955. He was a college student and she was a nursing student at the time. The couple got married two and half years later on August 17, 1957 at Central Presbyterian Church in Massillon.

Dick was a chemical engineer at Union Camp, now International paper, for 30 years. After his retirement, he worked several years at Care Tec.

He was a member and the Head Usher at Lifeway Church in New Philadelphia. He enjoyed golfing and bowling. He also loved collecting and restoring antique clocks.

He will be sadly missed by his wife; Jane, along with his son; Dr. Steven (Jill) Miller of Hilliard, Ohio; two grandchildren, Marcus and Marlayna Miller both of Hilliard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Stephanie Renee Miller in February of 2012.

Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 5-7pm. A celebration of Dick’s life will take place at LifeWay Church, 742 Cookson Ave SE, New Philadelphia on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 11:00 am with Pastor Larry Fletcher officiating. Immediately following the service, a meal will be served in the church social hall. Burial will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery in Massillon at 2:00pm.
