Richard P. "Ricky" Stewart II, 35, of Dover died May 26, 2014 in the Cleveland Clinic lovingly surrounded by his family.
Ricky was an IT Specialist at Joel Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg where he has been employed the past three years. He had previously worked in IT at the former Twin City Hospital in Dennison.
Born Jan. 6, 1979 in Canton, Ohio, he was the son of Rick and Gay (Gardner) Stewart of Dover.
Ricky was an assistant track coach at Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School having coached discus and shot put. He was a 1997 graduate of Dover High School having excelled in football where he wore #79, along with track and wrestling. He was also a member of the show choir. He graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan University where he was a member of its track team and earned 2nd place in the discus throw in the state of West Virginia. He was a member of the Theta Xi Fraternity and over the years continued to remain in contact with his fraternity brothers. He was also a member of the New Philadelphia Elks lodge. Ricky was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and will be remembered as a "family man". His family was everything to Ricky and enjoyed spending as much time as he could with them.
In addition to his parents, Ricky will be sadly missed by his family including his wife Heather (Perkins) Stewart; two daughters Maegan Rose (3 years old) and Kathryn Renee (3 months old), his sister, Stacy Stewart of Streetsboro, Ohio; mother in law Daphne Perkins of Dover and father in law, Randy Perkins of Arkansas; paternal grandmother Jean Stewart of Canton. He is also survived by his brother in law and sister in law along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Willard and Beverlee Gardner; paternal grandfather, Jack Stewart a cousin, Billy Gardner and an uncle, Gary Gardner.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 31, 2014 beginning at 11am in the Dover Burial Park with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover on Friday from 4-8pm. Elks services will begin Friday at 8pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Richard P. Stewart II Memorial Fund c/o First National Bank of Dennison (Dover branch) 824 Boulevard, Dover, Ohio 44622 to be used for the future education of Ricky's daughters.
