Richard Tristano

Richard "Dick" Tristano, age 79, a life-long resident of Dover, died Wednesday, February 18, 2015, in Park Village Health Care Center.

Born September 4, 1935, he was a son of the late Benjamin and Rose (nee Gaffoli) Tristano. Dick graduated from Dover High School and was employed by Joy Manufacturing at New Philadelphia, and later by the Reeves Steel Company, from which he retired. In his retirement, he could often be found riding his bicycle around Dover or "holding court" with his buddies on the city's square in the evening.

Dick was a member of St. Joseph Church and the Tuscarawas County Senior Center, both at Dover. He very much loved his grandchildren and time spent with them. He followed sports high school, college and professional, and enjoyed playing golf whenever he got the chance.

Survivors include his son, Richard K. Tristano of Dover; his grandchildren, Tara Michelle Tristano of North Canton and Ryan Christopher Tristano of Charleston, South Carolina; his sister, Shirley (husband, Jim) Contini of Dover; his brothers, Louis Tristano of New Philadelphia, and Jim Tristano of Dover; his nieces and nephews; and his many friends.

In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his beloved wife of forty-eight years, Carol J.(Tschudy) Tristano on January 19, 2005; his five sisters and his five brothers.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover, on Tuesday, February 24, 10 11 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 11. Burial will be in Dover's St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery. Following the committal, there will be a luncheon in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard at Dover.
