Richard W. Wallick

Richard W. Wallick, 79, of Hamilton, Ohio and formerly of Walnut St., Dover, Ohio died Friday, December 5, 2003 in the Hospice unit of Fort Hamilton Hospital in Hamilton.

Born May 16, 1924 in Dover, he was the son of the late Bryan and Erdine Schwartz Wallick.

He taught instrumental music at Strasburg, Jefferson Union, Franklin and Columbus City Schools until his retirement in 1977.

He was a graduate of Strasburg High School, Ohio State University where he played in the OSU band and a graduate of the Vandercook School of Music. He was an accomplished musician and was an original member of the Dominic Greco Memorial Band.

He was a member of the Broadway United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran having served in the medical corp.

Richard is survived by his wife, Madeline McCullough Wallick with whom he celebrated 58 years of marriage on July 30. He is also survived by four sons Rick Wallick of Columbus, Scott (Lorna) Wallick of Seattle, Washington, Mike (Diane) Wallick of Hamilton, and Tim (Brenda) Wallick of Pataskala; Seven grandchildren Rich, Bryan, Becky (Matt) Blanchard, Michael, Blake, Ben, and Kevin Wallick; One sister, Betty Lou Huffman of Strasburg,

He was preceded in death by his brother, Tom Wallick.

A Christian Funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 9, 2003 at 10:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Rev. Joe Glassner officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park.A reception will follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4-7 pm.
