Ricki L. “Rick” Keller, age 67, of Dover, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017, with his family around him, in Community Hospice’s Truman House at New Philadelphia.
Born May 9, 1949, in Pasadena, California, he was a son of the late William and Bonnie Fasana Keller. Rick moved with his family at a young age to Stark County and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1967. He was employed by the 7 Up Bottling Co. in Midvale, and later by the Esber Beverage Co. in Canton from which he retired. In his retirement, Rick worked part-time for Truck Sales & Service, Inc., Midvale.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Elks Lodge, both at New Philadelphia. Rick loved the outdoors, especially Atwood Lake, where he and his family spent many happy hours on their pontoon boat. He also enjoyed fishing, both at Atwood and Lake Erie, and he liked gardening, growing both vegetables and flowers.
Rick is survived by his wife, Susan A. “Suzi” Tornabene-Keller, whom he married September 20, 1980; his children, Nick (Traci) Keller of Newcomerstown, Deena (Kirk) Gruber of Massillon, Chrissy Keller of Canton, Scot (Jessica) Keller, Allison (Stephen) Hoffmann and Kelsey (Bryan) McConaha, all of Dover; his eleven beloved grandchildren; his brother, Dwight David (Barbara) Keller of Andrews, North Carolina; his sister, Denise (Don) Wagner of Canton; his sister-in-law, Laurie Day of Sandyville; his brothers-in-law, Tim (Judy) Tornabene of New Philadelphia, and Tom (Kathi) Tornabene of Port Washington; and his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Steven Keller; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Louis and Vera Tornabene.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, April 27, at 10:30 a.m., in Sacred Heart Church; Fr. Jeff Coning will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, New Philadelphia. Following the committal, there will be a luncheon in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover. Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Wednesday, April 26, 5 – 8 p.m. The Rosary will be prayed Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
The family suggests that contributions in Rick’s memory be made to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., or, to the Sacred Heart Church Building Fund, 139 Third St. N.E., both addresses at New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
