Robert D. Frey

Robert D. Frey, 90, of Strasburg died Thursday, February 11, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born April 11, 1925 in Zoarville he was a son of the late Fred and Nellie Knotts Frey. Robert was also preceded in death by his brothers, Russell, Glenn and Fred Frey Jr; sister, Wilma (Ray) Stoner; brother in law, Carmin Altieri and sisters in law, Rosa and Ethel Frey.

Robert loved taking care of his yard and gardening, and being with his family, especially at cookouts and around a fire. He also enjoyed playing with his grand puppies, Chase, Dyno, Gage and Parker.

A wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather, Robert will be sadly missed by his wife of 60 years, Margaret Weber Frey whom he married on July 14, 1955; daughter, Sally Gritzan of Strasburg; sisters, Thelma Piatt of California and Mary Altieri of Canton; granddaughters, Lindsay (Buck) Derico, Laura (Holt) Boggs, Lisa (Jarod) Lawver and he was anxiously awaiting the birth of his first great grandson in April.

Private graveside services will be held. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Strasburg is handling arrangements. Those wishing to express their fondest memories of Robert may do so by visiting the online obituaries and flowers link on the funeral homes website.
