Robert D. Kohler

Robert D. Kohler, 71, of Midvale died Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Union Hospital following a brief illness.

Born October 26, 1943 in Dennison he was a son of the late Orton and Mary Fisher Kohler. Robert was also preceded in death by his sisters, Albertha Rufus and Maxine Carrothers.

He retired from the Y & O Coal Company in Hopedale after 22 years as a foreman. Robert attended the Midvale United Methodist Church and had been Fire Chief of the Midvale Fire Department, as well as, a Reserve Deputy for the Tuscarawas Country Sheriff's Department. He had an adventurous side, as was evident by his love of skydiving, racing dirt bikes and watching stock car racing, especially at Midvale Speedway. His other hobbies included golfing and being a ham radio operator.

Robert will be sadly missed by his wife, Donna Tolloti Kohler whom he married on July 1, 1964; children, Kimberly Kohler Salva and her companion, Doug Cross of Midvale, Michael (Cara) Kohler of Dennison, Robert (Kari) Kohler of New Philadelphia; brother, Ronald (Doreene) Kohler of South Carolina; grandchildren, Zachary and Kortney Kohler and his dog, Zeba.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 5 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Lyle Warren officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Friends can call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 pm.
