Robert Deseyn, Sr.

Robert “Bob” DeSeyn Sr., 78, of Mineral City died Sunday, June 17, 2007 after a struggle with Alzheimer�(TM)s. He was born on May 31, 1929 in Canandaigua, New York and was the son of the late Lewis J. and Mercie Peer DeSeyn.

He graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1949 where he majored in retailing. He was employed at J.C Penney Company for 15 years and then worked as a life insurance agent for 25 years. He was a member of the Dover Kiwanis and Tuscarawas County Ruritans. He was also active in Boy Scouts and volunteered his time at the Wilderness Center in Wilmot. Bob was a member of the United Methodist Church in New Cumberland.

Bob served our country in the US Army during the Korean War.

In 1952, he married the love of his life, Sally J. Newberry-DeSeyn, who survives him. Other survivors include; a daughter; Karen (Tom) Clayson of Casper, Wyoming; two sons, Robert (Debra) DeSeyn Jr. of Sugarcreek, Ohio, and Douglas (Rosemary) DeSeyn of Thermopolis, Wyoming; a sister, Mary DeSeyn of Lyons, New York; a sister-in-law Anna K. Newberry and five grandchildren; Bobby, Jessie and Bailey DeSeyn and Kyle and Sarah Clayson.

A sister, Donna DeSeyn and a brother-in-law, Robert Newberry, precede him in death.

Cremation will take place. A memorial service will be held at the New Cumberland United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at 11:00 am with Pastor Ted Knapp officiating. Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Dover are handling the arrangements. Burial will take place at a later date in Woodlawn Cemetery in Canandaigua, New York.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer�(TM)s Association, 4815 Munson Street, N.W., Canton, Ohio 44718 or a charity of one�(TM)s choice.
