Robert F. Celce, Sr.

Robert F. “Bob” Celce, Sr., 79, of Dover, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002, in Union Hospital, Dover, following a long illness.

Born Oct. 21, 1922, in Manhattan, NY, he was a son of the late John Henry and Belle Walton Celce. Bob attended school in Manhattan, and served honorably with the U.S. Army as a medic during World War II. He married Norma J. Buckohr on Oct. 27, 1943.

Bob retired from the New Philadelphia City School System as a custodian with over twenty years of service; all of that time at York Elementary School.

He enjoyed listening to music (especially Frank Sinatra) and good meals. Bob loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He attended many sporting events in which they participated.

In addition to his wife, Norma, he is survived by a daughter, Marsha (Tom) Espenschied of Dover; two sons, Robert F. (Judy) Celce, Jr. of Dover, and William D. (June) Celce of New Philadelphia; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Mildred “Millie” Franzen of Oreland, PA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Muriel Celce and Isabel Earler; and a grandson-in-law, Craig McCarthy.

A funeral service will be held Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at 11 a.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park. There will be a reception in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center following the committal. Visitation will be Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, 6-9 p.m., in the funeral home.
