Robert F. “Fred” Singleton, age 76, of Dover, passed away Monday, December 4, 2017, in Dover’s Hennis Care Centre.
Born June 11, 1941, in Dover, he was a son of the late Robert J. and Mildred Ball Singleton. Fred delivered The Times-Reporter as a youth. He graduated from Dover High School in 1959 and was employed by the Timken Company in Canton for 39 years, retiring in 1998. Fred married Catherine A. “Katy” Rennie on January 28, 1978. He was a Dover Band Booster, a fan of Dover football, and was a regular at Dover games. In retirement, Fred found that he thoroughly enjoyed bus tours and their camaraderie and traveled that way often.
In addition to his wife, Katy, Fred is survived by his son, Quentin Singleton; his sisters, Susan (Edward) Rufener and Beth (Ronald) Kilchenman; his brother, Norman (Karen) Singleton; his uncle, Richard “Dick” (Bonnie) Singleton; his nieces and nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, his aunts, Marilyn Rosenberg and Nancy Singleton, preceded Fred in death.
A memorial service, officiated by Fred’s brother, Norman, will be held Tuesday, December 12, at 11 a.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover.
