Robert H. “Bob” Laughlin, Sr., 71, of Dover, died Friday, March 31, 2006 following a short period of illness.
Born February 27, 1935 at Roseville, he was the son of the late Loren & Margaret Pierce Laughlin.
Bob was a hard worker, who spent the bulk of his years in the grocery business. He served as a manager for several Big Bear groceries between 1957 and 1970, having been relied upon to oversee operations in Marietta, Huntington, WV, Columbus, Bridgeport and St. Clairsville all before moving to the area in 1965 to manage the new Harts department store and Big Bear grocery in New Philadelphia. It was at that first store in Marietta back in 1957 where he was taken by a female co-worker. Six months later produce clerk Barbara Warman became his wife. The two had been inseparable since.
His life was devoted to his family, and his belief in working hard left him precious little free time. But when time permitted, Bob also had a passion to be out on the golf course. In fact, for more than ten years, he has been a groundskeeper and starter at Green Valley Golf Club in New Phila.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Dover and proudly served his country from 1955-57 in the Army.
In addition to his wife of 47 years, Barbara Warman Laughlin, Bob is also survived by a son Robert “Rob” Laughlin, Jr. of Sugarcreek and his fiancé Tracy, as well as two grandson, Justin and Joshua.
Along with his parents, a brother, Samuel, also precedes him in death.

Entombment will be in the Garden of Peace Mausoleum at Dover Burial Park, where the Dover VFW will conduct military honors. A luncheon will then follow in the Grace Lutheran Church fellowship hall.
