Robert H. Millard, 94, of Dover went home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, June 14, 2012 following a brief illness.
Robert retired in 1982 as a machine operator for the Union Camp Corporation following 31 years of service.
Born Nov. 25, 1917 in Lansing, Michigan, he was the son of the late William and Lucinda (Gordon) Millard.
He was a former member of the First Baptist Church in New Philadelphia where he formerly served as a Deacon. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth (Flory) Millard who died Dec. 17, 1991. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Kennard) Millard with whom he celebrated 18 years of marriage on March 2; He will also be sadly missed by his children; Daniel (Lois) Millard and David (Patty) Millard both of New Philadelphia, and Joan (Neal) Dawson of Hopedale, Ohio; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
Robert will be cremated and a private interment will be held at a later date in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover.
A memorial service celebrating Robert's life will be held Monday, June 18, 2012 at 2pm in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center, 831 Boulevard, Dover that will be officiated by his children. Immediately following the service the Dover VFW will conduct military honors with a reception to follow. The family will receive friends Monday from 1-2pm at the Monarch Center.
