Robert J. Becker, 86, of 2214 N. Walnut St., Dover, Ohio died Christmas Day, 2005 in his home lovingly surrounded by his family.
Bob was a lifelong farmer having owned and operated Becker Farms in Dover. In recent years, he enjoyed taking drives around one of his farms, now Becker Creek development in Dover.
Born June 22, 1919 in Dover, he was the son of the late Edward G. and Amelia Handrich Becker. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Donald E. Becker and Warren A. Becker, his stepmother, Helen Handrich Lab Becker, two stepbrothers, Paul and Albert Lab, and a stepsister, Hilda Domer.
Bob was a member of the St. John�(TM)s United Church of Christ in Dover. He was also a former member of the Dover Exchange Club. He was a member of the Dover Elks Lodge, Tuscarawas County Farm Bureau, former Unity Grange and now the Brandywine Grange.
Bob was devoted to his wife and family and his grandchildren and great grandchildren brought much joy to his life. His family and friends will miss his hearty laugh and sense of humor along with the twinkle in his eyes when he smiled. He enjoyed spending his winters in Florida.
Bob is survived by his wife, June Grimm Becker with whom he celebrated 59 years of marriage last February 16; four daughters, Amelia “Millie” (Don) Page of New Philadelphia, Margaret “Peg” (Joseph John) Krantz of Dover, Shirley (Paul) Tharp of Dover, and Jane Wallick of Dover; nine grandchildren, Michelle (Sam) Sayre, Christopher (Melody) Page, Stacey Page, Terry (Keeley) Krantz, David (Stephanie) Krantz, Shawn Tharp, Nathan (Mindy) Tharp, A1C Zachary Wallick, and Lindsey Wallick; five great grandchildren, Shayla, Chanda, and Brittany Page, Dylan and Samantha Sayre.
Funeral services celebrating Bob�(TM)s life will be held Friday, December 30, 2005 at 11am in the St. John�(TM)s United Church of Christ in Dover with Pastors Dan Schaefer and Dana Kierstead officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Thursday from 5-8 pm and at the church Friday from 10-11 am.
