Robert J. "Bo" Mcmillen

Robert J. “Bo” McMillen, 91, of Dover died in his home on Sunday. Oct. 28, 2018.

Bo founded McMillen & Sons Heating and Cooling in Dover in 1972 and continued to assist his sons in the family business long into retirement.

Born July 7, 1927 in New Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Cecelia (Gregory) McMillen.

He graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1946 and was a starting member of the 1944 undefeated New Philadelphia Quaker football team that was recently inducted into the Quaker Hall of Fame. After graduating from high school, Bo proudly served his country in the U.S. Army AirCorp during World War II. Bo was a life member of both the New Philadelphia VFW and Elks lodge and was an avid golfer.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Miriam (Spies) McMillen. They were married on Bo’s birthday in 1952. He was also preceded by his grandson, Clay McMillen along with four sisters and four brothers.

He will be sadly missed by his family including his two sons, Tom (wife, Brenda) McMillen of New Philadelphia and Wes (wife, Ellen) McMillen of Stone Creek; grandchildren, Luke (Katie) McMillen of Gambier, OH and Broc (Karie) McMillen of New Philadelphia; four great grandchildren, Addison, Colton, Drake, and Luca and his sister, Peggy Lower of Millersburg along with five nephews.
