Robert J. Waltz, 85, of New Philadelphia went to Heaven Saturday, June 6, 2015 in the Community Hospice House.
Born December 1, 1929 in New Philadelphia he was a son of the late Russell and Gladys Murray Waltz. Robert was also preceded in death by his wife, Hilde Waltz in 1990; son, Manfred Waltz; granddaughter, Victoria Waltz; brother, Richard Waltz and his sister, Vivian Maistrelli.
Robert was a member of the Army Air Corps during WW II, following his service he was employed for over 30 years at Greer Steel. He was a member of the New Philadelphia Moose, AMVETS, Dover VFW where he served on the burial detail, and he also attended Emmanuel Lutheran Church. He was a great outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, boating, hunting, fishing and he had a great love for animals.
Robert will be sadly missed by his son, Jerry (Jan) Waltz of Atwood; grandchildren, Rachel Sampson, Alicia Waltz and Samantha Waltz; great grandchildren, Amber and James Sampson; daughter in law, Diane Waltz of New Mexico and his long-time companion and friend, Carol Teter.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, June 10 at 11:00 am in the East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia with Pastor Charles McNatt officiating. The Dover VFW will conduct military graveside services. Following the service a funeral luncheon will be held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends can call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover on Tuesday from 5-7 pm.
