Robert L. Jones

Robert L. Jones, 72, of Dover passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024 in the Community Hospice Truman House. Born on February 22, 1951, in Irvington, New Jersey he was a son of the late John and Agnes Quinn Jones.  Robert was also preceded in death by his wife, Frances Jones on September 12, 2006; and sisters, Jackie, Mary, Dolores, Isabel and Frances.

Robert proudly served his country with the United States Air Force. He began his working career as a truck driver and faithfully served in this profession for over 30 years. He traversed the roads of America with a steadfast commitment to his work.  During his free time, Robert indulged in various hobbies and interests. Playing cards with friends was a favorite pastime, especially engaging in spirited games of poker. The camaraderie he shared during these card games brought joy to Robert's life. Apart from cards, Robert found solace in reading. Whether it was escaping into exciting fictional worlds or diving into informative non-fiction books, his passion for reading was a constant source of enlightenment.  

Robert found true fulfillment in the love he shared with his family. His daughters Christina (Dan) Burr of Michigan and Kim (Rob) Glazer of Dover were the apples of his eyes. Robert also loved being a grandfather. The love he had for his grandchildren was immeasurable. Kylee Price and her husband Kevin, Dylan Whittaker with his fiancée Corine, Alexis Hundley, Kirsten Grundy with her husband Eddie were the light of Robert's life. Welcoming the newest generation was yet another source of happiness for Robert as he became a great grandfather to Nora Price.

A service celebrating Robert's life will be held on Sunday, January 21st starting at 1:30 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Rev. David Wing officiating.  The family will be greeting friends on Sunday from 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm.
