Robert L. "Bob" Mathews, 76 of New Philadelphia passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at the Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia.
Born on June 20, 1939 in Newcomerstown, he was the son of the late Ross and Mildred (Curby) Mathews.
He attended Newcomerstown High School. After 31 years of service, Bob retired from Bill Hawk Inc. where he was a foreman and operator.
He enjoyed watching birds and spending his time working outdoors. He was a handyman and loved small projects around the house.
In 1997 Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Jacky Mathews. He was also preceded in death by his three brothers; John, Dick, and Clyde Mathews.
He will be sadly missed by his wife; Patricia Mathews, whom he married on August 25, 2001; five daughters, Jolynn Vannucci of Colorado, Bobbi (Mike) Fantin of Dover, Shelly Pease of New Philadelphia, Wendy Pease of New Philadelphia, Kristen Pease of New Philadelphia; his son, Jeff (Kelli) Mathews of Dover; two sisters, Betty (Gene) Whyde of Newcomerstown, Sharon (Ted) Jones of Cambridge, his brother, Gary (Alyce) Mathews of Newcomerstown; along with 20 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
In honoring Bob's wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover. Inurnment will take place at Dover Burial Park. A memorial service will be held at Dover Alliance Church on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 11:00 am with his son, Jeff Mathews officiating. A reception will follow.
