Robert L. “Bob” Fishel, 76, of Dover, died peacefully Wednesday afternoon, Apr. 28, 2005, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born Nov. 14, 1928, in Saltsburg, PA, he was a son of the late Nightie and Lottie Baker Fishel. Bob moved at a young age with his family to the “Tin Town” area of Dover, where he grew up He attended Dover High School, and served honorably with the U.S. Army Eleventh Airborne Division during the occupation of Japan. Following his service time, Bob was employed as a construction worker, working for numerous area builders until his retirement.
He was a faithful follower of Bill W. and Dr. Bob. He enjoyed Dover football and basketball, and was also a fan of Ohio State athletics… And he liked to shoot the bull.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy (Dennis) Marshall of Dover, and Linda (William) Davis of Del Rio, TX; three sons, Robert “Pete” (Debbra) Fishel of Port Washington, Michael (Sandra) Fishel of Bolivar, and Dale (Dianne) Fishel of New Philadelphia; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a sister, Sally (Wayne) Gentry of California; two brothers, Donald (Dorothy) Fishel of Dover, and Charles “Dick” (Mary) Fishel of California; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, three brothers, and twin infant sons.
Bob�(TM)s life will be celebrated in a service Saturday, Apr. 30, at 1:30 p.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, with Pastor Mark Unrue of the First Presbyterian Church, Uhrichsville, officiating. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park. Following the committal, there will be a reception in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.
