Robert L. “Bob” Owens, 76, of Dover passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 28, 2019, in Wytheville, Virginia.
Bob was born on September 18, 1942, in Dennison. He was the son of the late Alvin and Goldie (Murphy) Owens. He attended New Philadelphia High School and joined the United State Army Reserves, where he served our country for eight years. He retired as a steelworker having worked for Republic Steel and the former LTV Steel in Massillon.
On May 26, 1969, he married the love of his life, Sandra “Sandy” Franz, who survives. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this month. He is also survived by his two sons, whom he loved dearly; Mike (Kellie) Zuchegno, and Chris Zuchegno both of Dover; two grandchildren, Nathan Zuchegno of New Philadelphia, and Kelsie (Ashton) Preston of Marietta; his brother, Randy (Tina) Owens of Texas; along with his life-long friend, Chuck Nedrow of Alabama.
Bob was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling with Sandy. Bob enjoyed watching the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns.
