Robert L. Sisson, Sr.

Robert L. Sisson, Sr., 83, of Howard, Ohio, and former Bolivar resident, died Saturday, June 17, 2000 in Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada.

Born July 22, 1916, he was a son of the late John Carl & Jessie Smith Sisson.

Robert's 41 year career with the Timken Roller Bearing Co. involved in no less than 25 different assignments and promotion which included running several different plants and trouble-shooting others in the U.S. as well as France and South America. During those years, he won awards for his innovative ideas which saved the company millions of dollars.

His civic prowess included long-time membership in St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Bolivar, Ohio, where he taught adult Sunday School and was church treasurer. He was an active member of the Bolivar Volunteer Fire Dept., being their treasurer. He was also a charter member of the Bolivar Breakfast Club. More recently, Robert was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Mt. Vernon, Ohio and the local Elks Club.

In addition to his parents, and third son David James, Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Eckenweiler Sisson, who passed away on May 17, 1986.

Survivors include 2 sons, Robert Jr., Larry, and their respective wives, Linda and Edith, as well as Dave's wife, Denise. Jean Baker, lifelong friend from Bolivar, also survives; and finally, the grandchildren, Matthew, Micah, Terry, Kristi, Lynn, David, Lori, Ginger; and great-grandchildren, Mercedes, Kayla, Joshua, and Timothy.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 22, at 11:00am in Emmanuel Lutheran Church at New Phila., with Rev. Dr. Willam C. Haggis & Rev. Dan Schaefer officiating. Interment will be in the Ft. Laurens Cemetery. Friends may pay respect in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover on Wednesday, anytime after 2pm with family present from 2-4 & 6-9pm.
