Robert M. “Bob” Schaar, Jr., 58, of Dover, died peacefully in his home Thursday, May 31, 2007.
Born February 2, 1949 at Dover, he was the son of the late Robert M. & Grace M. Feller Schaar, Sr.
He was a hard-working man, but he wouldn(TM)t have wanted it any other way. For the past two years, he had enjoyed working for Harris Battery where he was employed as a truck driver. It was though, in the 35 years prior, that he was even more closely associated with his work, as the owner operator of Schaar Excavating and Trucking.
A 1967 graduate of Dover High School, Bob was also a member of the First Lutheran Church at Strasburg. He loved sports and was especially a big fan of the Cleveland Indians. He was also a bit of a sportsman himself, and had a passion for deer hunting that dates back several decades. For 25 years he served as Treasurer for the Zoar Road Gun Club.
On March 8, 1970, Bob married the love of his life, the former Terri Jones. The two had celebrated 37 years of marriage.
Other surviving family members include: a loving daughter, Heather (Greg) Parson of Canton; three grandchildren, Courtney and Tyler Parson of Canton and Matthew Candela of Michigan; two sisters, Patti Schaar, and Elizabeth (Edison “Leroy”) McDougall, both of Dover, and a brother, John (Mary) Schaar also of Dover.
Holy communion celebrating Bob(TM)s life will be Monday, June 4, at 11:00 a.m. in the First Lutheran Church, Strasburg, with Pastor Steven Woyen officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Following the burial, a meal for family and friends will be served in the church social hall. Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral home & Crematory, Dover on Sunday from 2-5 p.m., and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Those unable to attend or wishing to share a fond memory may sign the online register book for Bob by visiting the “obituaries” link on the funeral home(TM)s website.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to either Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W. 3rd St., Dover, or to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 2225 City Gate Dr., Suite E, Columbus, 43219.
