Robert Minnich

Robert "Bob" Minnich, 82, of Strasburg died Saturday, March 8, 2008 at Union Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was employed at IF Manufacturing in New Philadelphia and then retired from Marlite in 1988.

Born January 1, 1926 in Tuscarawas he was a son of the late Charles "Pete" and Grace Schindler Minnich. His brother, Ralph "Bud" Minnich, also preceded him in death.

Bob was a member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee and he was also a member of the Strasburg Booster Club. Bob was a wonderful and loving husband and father who enjoyed walking, watching all Strasburg sporting events and most importantly, traveling with his family and friends. He was a hard worker who loved working with his hands, and there wasn't anything he couldn't fix around the house. Bob found enjoyment working in his garden, being the family photographer and spending quality time with his grandchildren who were his pride and joy. He graduated from Tuscarawas High School and was also an Army veteran of WW II.

Bob is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kathryn Haswell Minnich whom he married on June 19, 1949. He is also survived by two daughters, Jill Minnich and Stacy (Karl) DiBacco both of Strasburg; sister, Hazel Wallace of Tuscarawas; grandchildren, Karly and Jay DiBacco. He is also survived by his many in laws and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at 1:00 pm in the Strasburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Court officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg. Friends can call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Dover on Tuesday from 6-8 pm.
