Robert P. "Bob" Spinell, 89, of Dover passed away on Monday, November 14, 2016 at the Community Hospice Truman House, surrounded by his loving family.
Born February 18, 1927 in Dennison he was a son of the late Frank and Meri Ponzio Spinell.
Bob graduated from St. Mary's High School in Dennison and proudly served his country with the United States Army. Bob was well known throughout the area as the owner and operator of Spinell's Spaghetti Inn of Dennison. Along with his mother and sister, he was a fixture at the restaurant from the time he left the service until the Inn's closing in 1970. In addition to the restaurant, he also worked full time at Republic Steel in Massillon. Bob was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he served as an usher, the Dover VFW, and the Dennison American Italian Club. On May 22, 1954 he married Mary Lou Bonisolli Spinell, together they shared 60 years of marriage until her passing on January 19, 2015.
A wonderful and loving father and grandfather, Bob will be sadly missed by his daughters, Julie Spinell of Dover (Parral), and Denise (husband, Ralph) Baumberger of Dennison; his sons, Steve (wife, Rosemary) Spinell of Akron, and Greg Spinell of Uhrichsville; his sister, Angie DePanicis of Arizona; his grandchildren, Matthew, Jessica, Kaitlyn, Lauren, Jordynne, Cory, Alexa and Valari; his great-grandson, Ryker and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Bob was also preceded in death by his sisters, Josephine Spinell and Lela Douglass.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 19th at 10:00 am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery at Dover where the Dover VFW will conduct military graveside services. Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover on Friday from 5-7 pm with Christian Wake services starting at 6:45.
