Robert R. France

Robert R. France, 81, of Dover died Saturday, October 11, 2014 at his home.

Born November 9, 1932 in Dover he was a son of the late Frederick and Jennie Steese France. Robert was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald "Bud" France and sister, Norma Jean Reip.

He was a 1950 graduate of Dover High School and attended Kent State University. Robert retired in 1989 as a Service Representative from Shenango. He had also worked at Manpower and was the Groundskeeper at Warther Museum for many years. Robert was a dedicated member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Dover where he was on the Board of Christian Education, served as President of council, was a Trustee, Treasurer and volunteered for Mobile Meals. He was also an avid sports fan who enjoyed being a basketball referee. Above all, he was proud of his family's acheivements.

A wonderful husband, father and grandfather Robert will be sadly missed by his wife of 59 years, Carol Stoller France whom he married on May 15, 1955; children, Kimberly (Scott) Thomson of Dover, Susan (Kerry) Steiner of Canton, Matthew (Lynne) France of Dublin and Jon (Martha) France of Cincinnati; brother, Kenny (Linda) France of Dover and sister in law, Shirley France; seven grandchildren, Sawyer and Conner Thomson, Brooke Steiner, Micala, Caroline and Christian France, Calista France and one step grandchild, Becky Steiner Farmer.

Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. A service celebrating Robert's life will be held on Thursday, October 16 at 11:00 am in the St. John's United Church of Christ at Dover with Rev. Thomas Dunkle officiating. Friends can call at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
