Robert R. Zion, 75, of Salem, and formerly of Dover, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018.
Born October 22, 1943 in Canton, Robert was a son of the late Joseph and Mildred Lechner Zion. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Carl “Butch” Zion.
Robert proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed at the Timken Company in Canton, and retired in 2006 after 20 years of service. Robert attended the Community Bible Church in Beloit, and was a member of the Washingtonville VFW and Damascus Ruritans. He was a real handyman who enjoyed rebuilding classic cars and tractors, but most importantly, he loved being with his family, especially following his grandchildren with their sporting events and activities.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, Robert will be missed by his wife of 54 years, Jean Winkler Zion whom he married on June 7, 1964; children, Holly (Jeff) Morrow of Leetonia, Christopher (Mandy) Zion of Beloit; brothers, Steve and Gary Zion both of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Allison, Caden, Kara, Adalyn Zion and Alex Morrow.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 3rd at 7:00 pm in the funeral home with Rev. John Tucker officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5-7 pm.
