Robert S. Swonger, Jr.

Robert S. Swonger Jr., 79, of Dover, Ohio died Monday, February 16, 2004 in the Hennis Care Centre at Dover following an extended illness.

He was the Superintendent of Dover Township for over 30 years until his retirement.

Born March 27, 1924 in Dover, he was the son of the late Robert Edwin and Bessie Stucky Swonger.

Bob was a member of the St. John�(TM)s United Church of Christ in Dover. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and enjoyed gardening.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice A. Byer Swonger who died May 13, 1992.

He is survived by his daughter and son in law Kathy and John Deitrick of Dover and his son and daughter in law William and Robin Swonger of Dover. A daughter in law, Nancy Swonger of Westfield Center, Ohio; Six grandchildren Melissa Swonger of North Carolina, Molly Swonger of Cincinnati, Daniel Swonger, Elizabeth Swonger, Kimberly Deitrick and Stacie Deitrick all of Dover. One sister, Mary Lou (Donald) Zimmerman of New Philadelphia and two brothers, Eugene (Betty) Swonger of Bowerston and Don (Barbara) Swonger of London, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by one son, Robert S. Swonger III and his stepmother, Dorothy J. Swonger.

Funeral services celebrating Bob�(TM)s life will be held Friday, Feb. 20, 2004 at 1 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Rev. Steven Daniels officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 11:30 am to 1 pm.
