Robert "Jerry" Stringer, 83, of Dover died Saturday, October 27, 2012 in the New Dawn Retirement Community at Dover.
Born September 17, 1929 in Dover he was a son of the late Albert and Bernice Parcell Stringer. Jerry was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Diana Stringer; brother, George Stringer and two sisters, Wanda Espenschied and Thelma Mason.
He retired from Marlite in Dover after 45 years of service, was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of the former South Moravian Church. Jerry loved working with his hands, and his specialty was fixing lawn mowers. In his spare time he would repair over 200 mowers a summer. He also enjoyed word search puzzles and watching NASCAR.
A wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather, Jerry will be sadly missed by his wife of 59 years, Marlene Bigler Stringer whom he married on June 7, 1953; daughter, Julie (husband, Stace) Maust of Sugarcreek and grandchildren, Caitlin and Nicholas Maust.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 30 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Ray Ulrich officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends can call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
