Robert W. Arney, 66, of Beach City passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021 in the Aultman Compassionate Care Center following a six month battle with cancer.
He was born on May 10, 1954 in Beach City and was a son of the late Richard and Ruth Andreas Arney. Robert started his working career at Norfolk and Southern Railroad as a crane operator for 16 years; he then took a position with Wenger Excavating in Dalton where he was a heavy equipment operator for almost 20 years. Robert was also a proud member of Local #18 of the Operating Engineers.
He was a member of Alpine Bible Church, where he served on the Security Team, Tusco Rifle Club and the Lenape Trail Sportsman’s Club in Mt. Eaton. Robert loved being outdoors and all of the activities that went with it, especially, hunting, traditional bow hunting, fishing, kayaking and camping. He was tremendously gifted in his ability to fix just about anything, and had a passion for metal and woodworking. Robert lived an exciting and adventurous life; he had a great personality and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Pamela K. Kennedy Arney whom he married on June 28, 1998; children, Robert (Pamela) Arney of New Philadelphia, Jenny Arney of Massillon, Brianne Bixby of North Canton, Jordan (Alan) Merry of Canton; brother, Richard (Connie) Arney of Bolivar; grandchildren, Alayna Shaw, Cameron and Maverick Arney, Gianna Vincent, Maxwell, Kai and Teddy Merry; and one great grandchild, Greyson Shaw.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. A celebration of Robert’s life will be held on Saturday, February 13 starting at 11:00 am in the Alpine Bible Church at Sugarcreek with Pastor Byron Stewart officiating. The family will be greeting friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Due to Covid-19 masks and social distancing will be required.
