Robert W. Null, 79, of Dover, Ohio died early Friday morning, July 13, 2012 in the Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia following a brief illness.
He was a retired construction employee having previously worked for Red Malcuit Inc. and Beaver Excavating.
Born Feb. 8, 1933 in Quaker City, Ohio, Bob was the son of the late Robert F. and Beulah (Holland) Null. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 27 years, Audrey (Baker) Null who died in 1993.
Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Dover VFW and will be missed by his many friends at the Dover Eagles Lodge. A man of many interests, Bob was an avid fisherman and spent many hours on his pontoon boat. He also enjoyed gardening, canning, and cooking and his family will miss his many soup recipes. He was also a sports fan and could be often found in front of the television watching professional football, baseball and basketball.
He will be sadly missed by his family including his daughter Sue (Jeff Murray) Parrish of Dover; three grandsons, Alonzo Parrish, Patrick Murray, Jake Murray all of Dover and his "adopted" grandson, Ryan Hutton of New Philadelphia; one brother, Jack (Maureen) Null of Akron and a sister, Betty (Don) Roush of East Sparta; a niece Lizzy Null and two nephews, Mike Null and Jim Roush. He is also survived by his canine companion of the same age in dog years, "Chewie"who was always at his side.
Chaplain Chad Durfee of Community Hospice will officiate funeral services celebrating Bob's life on Saturday (today) July 14, 2012 beginning at 3pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover. A reception will follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Following the service, cremation will take place and he will be laid to rest privately beside his wife in the Crestview Cemetery in Barnesville. Friends may call at the funeral home today from noon until 3pm.
