Roberta C. VonAllmen, 95, of Dover died peacefully Saturday, July 19, 2014 in the Park Village Health Care Center at Dover.
Roberta retired as secretary of the Clow Corporation in Parral and had previously been employed at the Glass Lumber Company and the former Belmont Stamping Co. both in New Philadelphia.
Born January 28, 1919 in New Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Anna Bertha (Griffith) Waldron.
Roberta was a member of the Winfield Zion Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Tuscarawas Historical Society, Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.), Chi Con League (CCL), and was a 4H Leader for many years. She graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1936. She had many interests including various crafts including crocheting and knitting. Her happiest times were spending time with her family from the "Girls Weekends" to being the eldest member of the "Traveling Trio" having taken many trips with her granddaughter Tara and husband, Todd. She will be remembered for her radiant smile and was an inspiration to everyone she has ever met.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 59 years, John W. VonAllmen who died March 11, 1999. In addition, she was preceded by a son, James; daughter in law, Elaine and three sisters, Dorothy Glass, Esther Archinal and Audrey Abbott.
She will be sadly missed by her family including two children, Karen (Robert) Stein of Dover and David (Linda) VonAllmen of Green, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Tara (Todd) Scott, Mark (Melissa) Stein, Matthew (Sarah) Stein, T.J. Stein, Dana VonAllmen, Justin (Jessica) VonAllmen, and Travis VonAllmen along with four great grandchildren, Addison, Audrey, Charlotte and Mason Stein.
Roberta's life will be celebrated on Saturday, July 26, 2014 beginning at 11am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Pastor Ellen Mills officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, John in the Union Hill Cemetery at Sugarcreek. A reception will follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10-11am.
