Robin R. Altier

Robin R. Altier, age 59, of Dover, passed away Monday, February 19, in the Cleveland Clinic - Main Campus, following a long and hard-fought battle with cancer.

Born June 8, 1964, in New Philadelphia, she was the daughter of Carol (Mizer) Meek of New Philadelphia, and the late William Meek. Robin graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1982, and, on December 9, 1989, married Todd M. Altier who survives. Robin was employed for years by Dr. James A. Karlowicz of Dover as a dental assistant. Later, she worked for Cleveland Clinic’s Urgent Care in both New Philadelphia and Dover. 

Robin had a life-long love of music, which included playing music, listening to music, music history and general overall knowledge. She played the flute with the Marching Quakers in high school, and later made sure that her children had music lessons instilling in them a love of music as well. 

A favorite pastime of Robin’s was shopping - finding just the right item in the right store. She enjoyed travel, Disney being a favorite destination, and planning a trip and seeing it through were a large part of her enjoyment. Robin and Todd were fortunate to have shared a memorable Disney cruise, and, just a few short years ago, she had the opportunity to visit Iceland - which she loved - family photos show the happiness on her face. Robin also very much liked decorating for Christmas, being partial to older or vintage decorations. Again, Robin was a planner, and looking for decorations was part of the fun for her. 

In addition to her mother and her husband, Todd, she will be dearly missed by her children, Alexis R. (spouse, Adelaide) Altier Garrett of Delaware, Ohio, and Spencer M. Altier of New Philadelphia; her grandson, Fynn Garrett; and her brothers, Craig and Kyle Meek. 

Cremation is in the care of the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. No visitation or funeral ceremony is planned. Perhaps take a moment to think of Robin when listening to a favorite song or when enjoying travel.
