Robin M. Brokaw

Robin M. Brokaw, age 69, of New Philadelphia, passed away Monday, October 14, 2024, in Dover’s Country Club Retirement Center, surrounded by her loving family, following a long series of illnesses.

Born May 3, 1955, in Dover, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Phyllis (Engler) Whitman. Robin graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1973, and was employed in several area restaurants, before going to work for the Valley Manor Nursing Home in New Philadelphia, and its successors, Morning View and Schoenbrunn. She married Bruce E. Brokaw, who survives, on September 6, 1976.

Robin grew up attending the Goshen Community Church of the Nazarene and was a faithful member. She was always ready to help in any way she was asked. As time progressed, Robin became somewhat limited in what she could accomplish, but she was still there cheering others on. She was the unofficial photographer for the Goshen church; Robin cataloged Vacation Bible Schools, Pastor Alvin’s Easter celebration for the children and various construction projects - she even helped clean up when building projects were finished. Robin also captured images of Family and Friends Days, gospel sings and more. For several years, Robin and Bruce championed the annual Goshen Picnic held at the church.

In addition to her husband, Bruce, Robin will be dearly missed by her daughter, Heidi (William) Coffman of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Rachel Tylke, Kevin Thomas Taylor, Ali Brooks, Aria Hall, Billy Coffman III and Allison; her great-grandchildren, Kai, Britney, Pearl, Lucy, Avery, Whitley, Zelda and Jayce; her sister, Vikki Whitman; her brother, Shawn (Nancy) Whitman; and her cousin, Casey Fisher.

Besides her parents, Robin was preceded in death by her son, Eric Thomas Brokaw; and her grandson, Justin Thomas Moss.

Friends may call at the Goshen Community Church of the Nazarene, 2501 David Rd. S.E., New Philadelphia, on Saturday, October 19, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. A celebration of Robin’s life will follow at 12; Pastor Lee Randolph will officiate. Immediately afterward, Robin’s church will host a lunch.
