Ronald E. Gordon

Ronald E. Gordon, 66, of Strasburg died suddenly on Friday, January 25, 2008 at Union Hospital.

He was the owner and operator of Gordon Printing in Strasburg since 1982, and had been associated with the family business all of his life.

Born December 24, 1941 in Dover he was a son of the late Smiley D. and Gertrude M. Frantz Gordon. His brother, Richard Gordon and his sister, Gay Elaine Gordon, also preceded him in death.

He was a member of the First Moravian Church in Dover. Ron led a full and wonderful life, which was emphasized by his attention to detail and hard work. When he wasn't at the shop, he was working on his farm raising dairy and beef cattle, along with a few horses; this truly was a labor of love for him. When Ron wasn't working, he enjoyed spending time with his family on the boat, going to car races or just watching his grandchildren in their many sporting events.

A wonderful husband, father and grandfather, Ron will be sadly missed by his wife of 45 years, Kathleen Gibbs Gordon, whom he married on July 15, 1962; three daughters, Renee (Matthew) Gordon Waite, Wendy (Craig) Gordon Colombo and Roni Gordon all of Strasburg; three sisters, Linda Gordon of Strasburg, Judith (Ernie) Brooker of Cincinnati and Sally (Garry) DeVault of Strasburg; five grandchildren, Mackenzie, Tyler, Alexandra, Nicholas and Sara Ann.

A celebration of Ron's life will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Dover with Rev. Allen Bergmann officiating. Cremation will follow the service with burial of the cremains to be held at a later date. Friends can call at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.
