Ronald E. “Ron” Hendershot, 58, of Dover, Ohio died Monday, September 24, 2007 in the Akron General Medical Center following a sudden and unexpected illness in his home.
Ron was an employee of Marathon Petroleum in Canton where he worked for thirty years and was a member of the United Steelworkers Local 1-450.
Born April 15, 1949 in Wheeling, West Virginia, he was the son of Ruth George Hendershot of Cadiz, Ohio and the late Foster Hendershot.
Ron was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Vietnam. He was a member of the Dover VFW and the Dover Elks Lodge. He loved spending time with his family and his granddaughters were his pride and joy. Ron also periodically enjoyed a round of golf.
He was a 1967 graduate of Cadiz High School and attended Kent State University.
In addition to his mother, Ron is survived by his wife, Deborah White Hendershot with whom he celebrated 34 years of marriage on May 12. He is also survived by his son, Doug of Royal Oak, Michigan and his daughter, Becky (Jeremy) Wright of Dover; two granddaughters, Annie Kate and Mackenzie Wright along with his brother, Richard (Mary) Hendershot of Benton, Illinois and two sisters, DiAnne Simmons of Cadiz and Debra Hendershot of Springfield, Ohio. He is also survived by the “Golden Girls” his golden retrievers, Libby and Kasey.
Funeral services celebrating Ron�(TM)s life will be held Friday, September 28, 2007 at 10:30am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover with Fr. William Arnold officiating. Military honors will conducted by the Dover VFW immediately following the service at St. Joseph Church. Cremation will follow services. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Thursday from 4-8pm.
