Ronald Eugene “Shiny” Zifer, 72, of Blacklick, Ohio passed away on Monday, August 8, 2022 at Mt. Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville, Ohio.
Born in Dover on November 20, 1949, he was the son of the late Michael and Margaret (Geyer) Zifer. He was also preceded
in death by his brother, Bob Zifer; brothers-in-laws’, Hugh McClelland, Denny Barr, Richard Ernest; sister in-law, Polly Zifer; niece Roanne Haakinson and nephew Kevin Green.
Ron was a 1969 graduate of Dover High School. While in high school he was proud to be a part of the football team. He had played football with the 1967 team which was recently inducted into the Dover High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Ron honorably served our country in the United States Army. Ron also owned and operated Ziggy’s Boutique in downtown Dover Ohio during the late 70’s and early 80’s. Ron was also an avid bass fisherman, who won many tournaments, and later in life enjoyed teaching his grandchildren to fish, who always amazed
him with the size of bass they would pull in.
He leaves behind his children; Robert (Jennifer) Zifer of West Melbourne, Florida, Vanessa (Patrick) Slabaugh of
Akron; his Grandchildren, Mason Zifer, Harrison Zifer, Isabelle Slabaugh, and Sofia Slabaugh, along with his siblings, Joanne McClelland, George(Carol) Zifer, Audrey Barr, Shirley Ernest, Lois (Anthony) Wells, Tom Zifer, Angie (Jeff) Lemasters. Plus, numerous nieces and nephews.
A private funeral Mass will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial at St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery in
