Ronald G. "Ron" Reynolds, age 72, of Dover, passed away Monday, September 22, 2014, in his home, following a 15-year struggle with Parkinson's Disease, later coupled with bone cancer.
Born June 22, 1942, in Stillwater, he was the son of Vincent Reynolds of Uhrichsville, and the late Eula (Smith) Reynolds. Ron graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1960, and went on to attend Kent State University. He served with the Ohio National Guard, and was the accountant for the former Valley Manor Nursing Home in New Philadelphia for many years.
Ron married Sarah Earley on November 20, 1965, who survives. In addition to Sarah, and his father, Vincent, he is survived by his children, David (Jody) Reynolds and Elizabeth (Michael) Ernest; his grandchildren, Dylan and Nathan Reynolds, and Will, Gabriel, Luke and Lydia Ernest; his sister, Loretta Reynolds; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Margie and Terry Jones; and his sister-in-law, Linda Earley.
Besides his mother, Ron was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Tom Earley.
He was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Dover, where he served as financial secretary until just prior to his death. He loved serving God and the church, and requested that, instead of flowers, contributions in his memory be made to First United Methodist or the National Parkinson Foundation.
Ron was a special person who was loved by many. He was quiet and private, and, although he suffered much, kept a sense of humor (often corny) and a positive attitude. He leaves a legacy of kindness, strength, determination and patience as an example for others to follow.
Family and friends are invited to call at the First United Methodist Church in Dover on Thursday, September 25, 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. A graveside service will be held in Dover Burial Park, Thursday at 11 a.m., with Rev. David J. Kowaleski officiating. Following the committal, there will be a luncheon in the church.
