Ronald K. (Red) Ewing, age 54, of Dover passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday afternoon, June 15, 2011 following a brief illness lovingly surrounded by wife, sons, and close family members.
Red was a member of Laborer's local #134 for eighteen years until illness forced his recent retirement.
He is survived by his wife Judy (Amistadi) Ewing with whom he would have celebrated 26 years of marriage on July 20; two sons, Taylor of the home and Edward (Miranda) Ewing and grandson, Dallas of New Philadelphia; his mother and father, Doloris Ewing Clinton and William Clinton; mother in law Nancy Amistadi all of Dover; brothers and sisters, Robert (Judy) Clinton, Steve (Debra) Clinton, Randall (Debbie) Ewing, and Melissa (Scott) Slauson all of Dover; Darcie (Dan) Shepherd of Canton, Martin (Shelly) Clinton of Colorado Springs, Colorado, William (Carla) Clinton of Mesquite, Texas, Barbara (David) Long of Strasburg, Richard Clinton of Frederick, Maryland along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Red was preceded in death by his sister, Dawn Ewing, father, Larry Ewing, father in law, Raymond Amistadi and his grandparents.
Next to Judy, his love was for his Harley that he rode often until his illness. Red also enjoyed being a friend and helping others. The blessing of his grandson, Dallas took over the love of his Harley. Red couldn't wait for Dallas' many visits.
It was Red's wish to be cremated. A celebration of Red's life will be held Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 3:30pm for his family and friends in his home at 211 Park Street in Dover. His longtime friend, Owen Lehman will lead the celebration. A memorial motorcycle run will follow the celebration. Friends will be invited to return following the ride to Red's home where a dinner will be served. Friends and family will be received Saturday from 1:30-3:30pm in the home. Those unable to attend or who may wish to express a fond memory of Red may sign the online guestbook by visiting the funeral home website.
The family would like to give a big thanks to Community Hospice for the loving care they gave Ronnie! It will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to assist the family with help with final expenses. Contributions may be made to his fund c/o First Federal Bank, 321 N. Wooster Ave. Dover, OH 44622 or to Judy at 211 Park St., Dover, OH 44622.
The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover has been entrusted with the arrangements.
