Ronald L. "Ron" Drescher, age 64, of Dover, died Tuesday, March 10, 2015, in Union Hospital, of complications of COPD.
Born January 25, 1951, in Dover, Ron was a son of Auldean F. Reidenbach of Roswell and the late Gerald L. Drescher, as well as his step-father, the late Wayne Reidenbach, who played a major role in his upbringing. He attended Dover schools, and served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Ron was a heavy equipment operator for much of his working life.
He loved being with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf and riding his motorcycle.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his daughters, Crystal (Teena McKamey) Drescher of Ravenna, and Kyra Drescher of New Philadelphia; his four sons, Ronald L. (Barbara) Drescher II of New Philadelphia, Heath (Kerri) Drescher of Midvale, Ryan (Jessica Bannister) Drescher of Dover, and Dakota Drescher of New Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Justin and Kristen Waddle, Logan Drescher, Katie Lawrence, Kyle and Zac Contini, Blake Ripley and Brennan Drescher; his great-grandchildren, Peyton Miller, Emma Western and Aurora Robbins; his sisters, Sherri (Glen) Jewell of New Philadelphia, and Helen (Rich) Ault of Tuscarawas; his brothers, Jerry (Nancy) Drescher of Canton, Randy Reidenbach of New Philadelphia, and Bobby (Fran) Reidenbach of Atwood Lake; and his many nieces and nephews.
Besides his father and step-father, Ron was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Carol Drescher; and his nephew, Jerry "Bubba" Drescher.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Friday, March 13, 5 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 14, at 1 p.m., in the funeral home, with Pastor Andy McClung of the Community Baptist Church in Dover officiating. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park, where military rites will be presented by the Dover post of the V.F.W. Following the committal, the family will host a luncheon in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
