Ronald L. Manley, 70, of Newcomerstown, Ohio died Thursday, June 11, 2009 in his home from an extended illness lovingly surrounded by his family.
He was born November 12, 1938 in Dover, the son of the late Paul and Margaret (Frey) Manley.
Ron retired in 2001 from Simonds Tool Company in Newcomerstown. He had also previously worked for the Morton Salt Company in Rittman.
He was a 1957 graduate of Dover High School. He formerly attended St. John's United Church of Christ in Dover. He served in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially loved animals including his dogs.
He is survived by his wife and companion of thirty years, Judy (Valentine) Manley. He is also survived by four children Trevor Simpson, Charles Jones, William Jones and companion, Lori Ratliff, and Deleesie (husband, Kim) Albaugh; ten grandchildren, a sister, Carol (husband, Bruce) Abrecht of Dover; mother in law, Mary Belle Valentine of Warsaw along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother in law, Norma and Don Marks and his father in law, Charles Valentine.
A service celebrating Ron's life will be held Monday, June 15, 2009 at 11:00am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Pastor Jim Gross officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia with military honors. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at Coshocton Memorial Hospital or Hospice of Coshocton County.
