Ronald P. “Ron” Kaser, age 70, of New Philadelphia, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2018, in Community Hospice’s Truman House after battling multiple myeloma.
Born January 26, 1948, in Dover, he was a son of the late Willis and Iva Weigand Kaser. Ron graduated from Dover’s St. Joseph High School in 1966, and went on to attend Kent State University. He served honorably in the United States Army, and, on August 22, 1970, married Patti Espenschied, who survives. Ron was employed by Reeves Steel Company and it’s successor, AK Steel, from which he retired.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Dover, and was a devoted family man. Ron played an active role in his children’s lives, and thoroughly enjoyed his grandchildren. Some of his favorite pastimes were playing the guitar – both acoustic and electric, following sporting events of all kinds, and building model cars.
In addition to his wife, Patti, Ron is sadly missed by his children, Scott Kaser of Dover, Lisa Kaser of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, and Ken (Margo) Kaser of New Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Travis and Caitlyn; his brothers, William “Bill” (Martha), Eugene and Greg Kaser; and his nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Wednesday, August 8, 4 – 6:45 p.m. A prayer service, officiated by Fr. Tom Gardner, will follow. Those planning to attend are encouraged to bring along a fond memory of Ron to share. To sign an online guestbook and share a remembrance online, please visit the obituaries link on the Toland-Herzig website.
The family suggests that, instead of flowers, contributions be made to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
