Rosalinda G. “Linda” Lustre, 86, of Dover, passed away at Union Hospital in Dover on Friday, February 14, 2020.
Rosalinda was born in the Philippines on June 29, 1933, to the late Benito and Jacinta (Legaspi) Gayita. She moved to the United States in 1956. She became a registered nurse and worked in the OB Unit at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. She taught nursing at St. Joseph Hospital in Toronto, Canada, where she met her late husband, Dr. Geronimo C. Lustre. He preceded her in death on March 29, 1993 following 31 years of marriage. She also worked for the Tennessee VA Hospital and began working at Union Hospital in Dover in 1977 where she worked for 35 years before she retired in 2012. Rosalinda was the former president of the Medical Auxiliary Board.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover where she was active with the St. Joseph Seniors. She was a member of the Rose Society and enjoyed playing tennis and slot machines.
She leaves behind her son; James (wife, Eden) Lustre of Akron, Ohio; two grandchildren, Ericson and Erkom; and her sister, Francisca “Paquita” G. Mamaril of San Diego, California.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her two brothers.
The Lustre family is so grateful for the loving care and guidance they received from the medical team and staff at Park Village as well as all of the doctors and medical staff that Linda worked with throughout the years.
In keeping with Linda’s wishes there will be no public viewing or services. A special service has been conducted through the care of the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover. A private graveside service will take place at St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery in Dover.
