Roscoe “Clyde” Hennis, 92, of the Hennis Care Centre and a former Bolivar, Ohio resident died Saturday, November 24, 2001 at Union Hospital following a brief illness.
He was a retired employee of the Hercules Co. in Canton.
Born March 17, 1909 in Bolivar, he was the son of the late Sherman B. and Alberta Speer Hennis.
Clyde was a member of the Fohl Memorial United Methodist Church in Navarre, Bolivar American Legion, Bolivar Army Navy Club, Dover VFW, and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. He was a US Army Veteran having served during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife Freda B. Miller Hennis who died in Dec. 1983.
He is survived by his daughter Geraldine (Charles) Swonger of Zoar. He is also survived by three granddaughters Kaye (Don) Donato-Wenner of Columbus, Linda (Steve) Moreland and Bonnie (Raymond) Lieser both of Bolivar; Four great granddaughters Tiffany and Meredith Donato of Columbus, Teri (Kelly) Rector of Massillon, Holly (Mark) Skelton of Canton; two sisters Dorothy Scaffide of Strasburg and Anna Shaffer of Bolivar along with two step great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers including his twin brother, Jesse L. Hennis and one sister.
Military graveside services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001 at 2 pm in the Ft. Laurens Cemetery at Bolivar. Those unable to attend may sign the online register book by visiting the “online obituaries” link on our website at www.tolandherzig.com
