Rose Pauline Bayer Gaut

Rose "Pauline" Bayer Gaut, 92, of Navarre passed away at Hennis Care Centre in Dover on Sunday, December 22, 2013.

Born on April 4, 1921 in New Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Rose Everett Crawshaw. On July 9, 1978 she was preceded in death by her first husband; Harold R. Bayer. She later married Theodore A. Gaut, who preceded her in death on November 29, 1994. She is also preceded in death by two infant brothers, her brother and sister in law, George "Bud" (Marion) Crawshaw; and her great-grandson, Dakota Lanzer.

Pauline was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School in 1939. She worked at Mid's Restaurant in Navarre and Cindy's Restaurant in Strasburg for many years. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Strasburg and was active with the Seasoned Seniors. She enjoyed baking, gardening, playing cards and crossword puzzles. She was an animal lover and especially enjoyed her cats.

She will be sadly missed by her three sons; Harold C. (Brenda) Bayer of New Philadelphia, Thomas L. (Jeanne) Bayer of Dover, Keith D. (Brenda) Bayer of Navarre; three daughters, Bonnie (Edwin) Goehring of Strasburg, Deanna (Bob) Zaugg of Dover, Paula (Steve) Stein of Dover; 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; along with three step-children and several step-grandchildren.

A celebration of Pauline's life will take place at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Friday, December 27, 2013 at 10:30 am with Rev. Gary Friend officiating. Interment will take place at East Ave Cemetery in New Philadelphia. Following the service of committal, a meal will be served at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday, December 26, 2013 from 5-7pm.
