Rose Voelm Holden, age 93, of Dover, passed away Monday, May 31, 2021, in the New Dawn Retirement Community.
Born April 25, 1928, in Dover, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Assunta Bonitatibus Monaco. Rose graduated from high school, and, on June 14, 1947, married John Voelm. The couple shared nearly 62 years of marriage prior to John’s passing on August 20, 2009. Rose was employed by the Sparta Ceramic Co. in East Sparta for 30 years, retiring in 1977. She also owned and operated Voelm’s General Store in Columbia with her husband John. Rose married John Holden on December 14, 2010; John passed away on February 28, 2016.
Rose was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Church in Dover. She also belonged to the Eagles and Moose lodges and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, all of Dover. Rose loved bowling, which she did for many years, and was inducted into the Tuscarawas County Bowlers Hall of Fame. Rose also very much enjoyed playing bocci at the Dover City Park.
She will be dearly missed by her son, Dr. Clint (Brenda) Voelm of Strasburg; her grandson, Jonathan (Desiree) Voelm of New Philadelphia; and her many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, and her husbands, John Voelm and John Holden, Rose was preceded in death by her sisters, Dolanda Margo, Norma Dickerhoof and Florence Vesco; and her brothers, Frank, Joseph and Herman Monaco.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Friday, June 4, 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m., in St. Joseph Church; Fr. Jimmy Hatfield will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery. Following the committal, there will be a lunch in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
