Rosemary Masten, 90, of Dover passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Hennis Care Center in Dover.
Rosemary was born on May 8, 1927 in Hotchkiss, West Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Perry (Guy) and Lucy (Crockett) Mace. She graduated from Wirt County High School and later became an LPN. She was a nurse for many years at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna. She also worked at the Tuscarawas County Home and in home health care.
On May 31, 1946 she married John Earl Masten, who preceded her in death on March 24, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her daughter; Jean Wagner; foster child, Bob Waller; brothers, Charles J. (Mildred) Mace, Jimmy (Peggy) Mace, George (Gladys) Mace, Tom (Joan) Mace, an infant brother; her sisters, Betty Lowe, Dorthy (Joe) Newell, Hannah (Jack) Hickman, Madge (“Buck”) Adams, and Joanne Mace; along with her son in-law, Paul Beitzel.
Rosemary enjoyed playing games, cards, and fishing. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She was a great hostess and servant and was caretaker of both her brother-in-law and father-in-law in their latter years, Harry and James Masten. She loved collecting dolls and was a member of the Zoar Doll Club, Prosperity Grange, LPANO and the Roxford United Methodist Church. She was also a certified lay speaker for the United Methodist Church.
She will be sadly missed by her sons; Stephen (Marilyn) Masten of Sherrodsville, David (Ann) Matsel of Independence, Missouri, Gary (Collette) Masten of Middlebranch, Ohio, Jeffery Masten of Hinesville, Georgia, Wayne (Janice) Matsel of Dennison; daughters, Barbara Bogart of North Carolina, Rebecca Beitzel of New Philadelphia, and Connie Belknap of New Philadelphia; her brothers, Sam (Bev) Mace, Paul (Maurine) Mace; three foster children, Joe, Lisa, and Chris Waller; brother in-law, Floyd Lowe; along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the Roxford United Methodist Church, on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. A funeral service will start at 1:00pm at the church with Pastor Ron Heasley officiating. Interment will take place at the Roxford Church Cemetery. A funeral reception will be held in the church social hall following the service of committal. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover are handling the arrangements.
